STMicroelectronics is closing its research and design group in LongmontColorado with the loss of 44 jobs, according to The Daily Camera.

The Longmont site houses an ASIC design centre, a computer peripherals group, technical marketing resources and a regional sales office.

44 jobs represents 62% of ST’s total employment at Longmont and, when implemented, will reduce ST’s headcount at Longmont to 27.

The proposed job losses came to light after ST filed a notice with the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act which requires employers to give notification of mass lay-offs.
