BAE Systems is recruiting a Mechanical Engineering Lead (within Helmet Displays). Based in Rochester, it is a permanent full-time role, and the salary is circa £45,000+.
"The team has approximately 20 Mechanical Engineering staff who are deployed on advanced helmet-mounted display projects including our leading-edge waveguide technology programs," writes the company. "This role requires someone who has a Familiarity with working in a Pro-Engineer design environment."
Main responsibilities will involve providing technical oversight of mechanical engineering for new proposals, developments, current issues and legacy work. This includes the generation of concept schemes and the subsequent oversight of design and analysis activities through to the completion of drawing packs.
Skills and qualifications will ideally include:
* Ideally you will be a Chartered Engineer of equivalent
* HND or Degree qualified or equivalent in a Mechanical Engineering related discipline
* Previous experience of performing system-wide tolerance budgeting
* Ability to devise opto-electro-mechanical design schemes and prepare supporting engineering calculations
* Knowledge of the application of analysis tools to product development
* The ability to devise and implement disruptive technology solutions
* Awareness of anthropological issues applicable to design of helmet assemblies
* Experience of Coaching or mentoring technical teams
