Google has bagged up another 200 patents from IBM. Some appear to relate to social networking technology.
Google has been spending lavishly on patents to protect itself and its Android users from patent lawsuits.
Last year Google bought Motorola Mobility with its 24,500 patents for $12.5bn.
Last year it also bought 1,000 patents from IBM, but it was outbid by Apple and others on the 6,000 patent sale of Nortel.
The price paid for the latest purchase from IBM is not disclosed.
