Sensation uses STE A9500

The Sensation – the name of the first smartphone to use ST-Ericsson's NovaThor A9500 platform - has been launched by HTC.

"The launch highlights the capabilities of our NovaThor platform family,” says Pascal Langlois, STE’s CMO.

The Sensation has 3D graphics and can run several Android applications simultaneously.

"ST-Ericsson's new NovaThor platform has enabled us to develop a world-class Android smartphone for China Mobile's TD network," says Matthew Costello, HTC’s COO.

The Sensation uses STE’s Nova A9500 dual-core application processor, running at 1GHz, and STE’s Thor  M6718 modem, which can connect to China Mobile's TD-SCDMA network, enabling broadband speeds across much of China.

The phone also has an eight megapixel camera and a 4.3 inch display.
