Energy Micro has teamed with Hitex Devepment Tools to introduce a self-test library for its ARM Cortex-M3 based EFM32 Gecko microcontroller family.
Intended to prevent unsafe operation of the controlled application, the Class B self-test library supports household appliances that require certification according to the latest IEC 60335 or IEC 60730 standards and their respective EN alternatives.
“Designers using the energy-efficient EFM32 Gecko microcontrollers now benefit from a self-test library that meets the requirements of Class B certification, thus enabling faster time-to-market,” said Oyvind Grotmol, v-p at Energy Micro.
The free of charge library was developed, tested and pre-certified according to the IEC 60335 and IEC 60730 standards. The library contains tests and diagnostic methods for safe operation of the microcontroller.
“The self-test library eases the development of safety-critical applications and significantly reduces the certification process,” said Frank Grobe, managing director at Hitex Development Tools.
