Rohde & Schwarz targets low noise analyser at mobile design

Rohde & Schwarz’s latest signal and spectrum analyser’s measurement capabilities have been designed for military and mobile communications applications.

At 10kHz carrier offset, the FSW analyser achieves a phase noise specification of less than –137dBc (1Hz). This is of interest to developers of RF components and complete systems for radar applications.

Equipped with the R&S FSW-K6 option, the instrument can be used to analyse pulsed signals in radar applications.

The instrument’s bandwidth of up to 160MHz allows it to be used for measurement of wideband, hopping and chirp signals, as used in wireless standards such as the 802.11ac.

The instrument’s multi-standard support means it can be used to simultaneously measure multiple mobile radio and wireless standards at different frequencies. Users can easily spot signal interaction among the standards.

"These measurements are essential for multi-standard basestations of the future,” Josef Wolf, director of the spectrum analysis, network analysis and EMC subdivision at Rohde & Schwarz.

“We have integrated the multi-standard radio analyser into the FSW. This feature, combined with the large touchscreen display, provides functionality that is unique on the market,” said Wolf.

Viewing of multiple measurements is one of the features of the signal analyser with its 12.1in touchscreen.

The FSW analyser is offered in three models which cover the frequency ranges 2Hz to 8GHz, 13GHz or 26.5GHz.
