Cambridge-based smart meter firm Sentec has joined the PRIME Alliance (power line intelligent metering evolution).
Founded in 2009, the Alliance is developing "open, public and non-proprietary", said Sentec, telecom specifications for smart meters and the smart grid.
"Sentec has joined the PRIME Alliance to promote the use of a standardised narrowband power line carrier solution," said Sentec CEO Mark England.
Alliance members include utilities like EDF and Iberdrola, meter manufacturers, and communications vendors.
