Wireless factory revenue growth to fall, says IHS

Manufacturers of handsets and routers will see a 17% rise in revenue to nearly $400bn in 2012, says IHS. Last year the growth was 32%.

IHS expects 2012 sales of 4G handsets to rise to $22bn while the sales of 3G phones will rise by 17% from its current $180bn.

1G/2G phones still take most of the units – 791m – but less revenue than either 3G or 4G phones, says IHS.

The wireless infrastructure market will be worth $43bn – about the same as last year.
