1,700 SiC Schottky diodes in TO-247 from Cree

Cree has introduced a series of packaged 1,700V Schottky diodes, which it claims is industry's highest blocking voltage.

As with other Schottky devices, the silicon carbide diodes eliminate the reverse recovery losses intrinsic in silicon PiN diode alternatives.

"While 1,700V bare die have been available for customers who design their own custom power modules, the TO-247-2 packages allow customers to take advantage of SiC for lower-power designs," said the firm.

Designated the C3Dxx170H series, the diodes are rated at 10A or 25A and are available in a TO-247-2 package.

"The switching loss improvement allows for increased system frequencies that can reduce the size of magnetic and capacitive components," said Cengiz Balkas, v-p of power devices at Cree.

Operating junction temperature is -55 to +175°C.
